On today’s menu was green bean puree. Clara had been in a bit of a funny mood today – acting a bit erratically and having quite a few teething ‘moments’ so we were a bit unsure how dinner would go this evening and to be honest it wasn’t particularly successful. She pretty much turned her nose up at the food and just wasn’t really in the mood to hold the spoon so we kept meal time pretty short. We helped her to have a bit of a taste of it and a sip of water but we got her back out of her high chair soon after as she was about to kick off! Guess we will go back to green beans again at a later date!!
Weaning – day 3
Today I made cauliflower puree for Clara’s dinner which went down a treat. I’m loving making her food every evening so far, although obviously at this stage the ‘meals’ I am making her are very simplistic and just require a steamer and a hand blender. It’s great fun to put something on the table in front of her and watch her expressions to see what she makes of it and it has also increased the amount of veg that we are eating as a family too as I am having to find plenty of creative ways to use up the leftovers. Everyone’s a winner!
Weaning – day 2
Moving on to broccoli today – this was a bit trickier to prepare than the potato yesterday as it needed blending in order to get it into a puree as opposed to a bit of fork mashing and I struggled to find a suitable container to put the broccoli into in order to use the hand blender on it as it was such a small quantity. In the end, I shoved it in a cup which seemed to do the trick, albeit with a bit of splashback!
#TBT Finding out I was pregnant
In my first Throwback Thursday post I thought I’d look back at the moment I found out I was pregnant.
I’d always known that I wanted to be a mum. It was just something that I couldn’t imagine not being a part of my adult life, but when Jamie and I decided that we were ready to have a baby I don’t think either of us expected it to happen quite so quickly. We were both expecting it to take a while for a positive result to happen, but as it turns out I fell pregnant after the first month…
Weaning – day 1
So today we began weaning! We kept things nice and simple and went with mashed potato for a first meal, using the advice of our fab Ella’s Kitchen First Foods Book. I have to admit I got a little bit emotional making the food up for Clara, it felt like a huge milestone to be preparing her first meal and made me realise how far we have come in the last 24 weeks. Also quite strange to think that from today onwards she is no longer fully reliant on my milk and that as time goes by she will gradually need me less and less for feeding.
To wean or not to wean…
So today has been an interesting day. I feel like a zombie. Clara had THE worst night last night, she had us up practically every hour and a half all night long and as a result was very irritable throughout the day, refusing to settle for any naps. Not really too sure what the cause is but she seemed to want feeding almost constantly so I’m thinking it could be either a growth spurt, teething, or her desire to start on solid foods as she just doesn’t seem to be fully satisfied after her milk feeds these days.
Entering the blogosphere
So here goes… my very first blog post. My name is Amy and I’m a new mummy to baby Clara. With Clara having just turned five months and about to enter the scary world of weaning, it has made me realise that time is slipping by and immortalising our amazing journey together in blog-form will give us both something to look back on in the years to come and will hopefully offer guidance and reassurance to others out there along the way too.
